For the job search that's wearing you down

The Career Playbook

You're not unqualified. You're unheard.

I've sat in the room when the offer gets made. Not guessed at it. Not read about it on someone else's LinkedIn post.... Courses and downloadables built from that room. Not a textbook.

Not building a creator brand right now? This is the career side of The Signal: resumes, interviews, offers and raises.

If you're searching right now

You're not imagining it. This market is hard.

Hundreds of applications. Rejection emails that arrive at 2 a.m. from a system, not a person. Interviews that go well and then end in silence.

After enough of that, you start to believe the problem is you. It isn't.... Good people are getting filtered out before anyone ever reads their story.

I know what that feels like. I trusted a company with my career, and they let me go anyway. And I've sat on the other side of the table, in the rooms where offers actually get decided. This Playbook is everything I learned from both chairs.

"I feel unheard."

Your resume disappears into a system. Your interviews blur together. Nobody sees the person behind the PDF.

Start with: Resume language that gets past ATS, then Talk about your experience with confidence.

"I feel lost."

You don't know which jobs to chase, which companies to trust, or how to tell your story without sounding like everyone else.

Start with: Evaluate the company back, then Use AI to tailor your story.

"I feel undervalued."

You finally get an offer, and you're so relieved you almost take whatever they say. Don't.

Start with: Negotiate without leaving money on the table.

Resume language that gets past ATS

Your resume isn't getting rejected by a robot. Not really. It's getting rejected by a person deciding if you're worth a seat at the table.... I've been that person. Roundtable interviews at MarineMax. Roundtable interviews at Molson Coors. Real feedback that made or broke a real offer. And at Molson Coors, I don't just sit in on it, I go find the contractors myself and hire them. So when I tell you what earns a callback and what gets you skipped, that's not a guess. That's the room talking. You'll leave with real before and after language. Not a template.

Talk about your experience with confidence

I invested everything into other companies. Full Salesforce migrations. Messy CRMs untangled for clients who kept me around for years, not months. I never once invested that same energy in myself.... Not until I had to sit across from someone deciding my worth and actually say it out loud. This is the STAR method, real scripts, built so you stop underselling yourself in the room that decides if you get the offer. I've sat on both sides of that table.

Evaluate the company back

I trusted a company with my career the same way I'd trust them with my life. Then my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and a few weeks later, they let me go.... I'm not naming who. It doesn't matter who. What matters is I stopped evaluating them the second I signed the offer letter, and they never stopped evaluating me. Loyalty only works if it goes both directions. That's what I actually mean when I say evaluate the company back. Not paranoia. Just the same scrutiny you'd want them to have of you. You'll leave with the real questions to ask, before you hand over years of your life to somewhere that might not hand anything back.

Negotiate without leaving money on the table

People from a company I used to work for reach out now, asking to come work with me. Not because I've got the biggest name. Because they know I don't take days off, and they'd rather be busy alongside someone who shows up than comfortable next to someone who doesn't.... That's leverage most people never learn to see, let alone use. If people are willing to follow you somewhere, you already know what you're worth. The hard part was never knowing your value. It's saying the number out loud. You'll leave with the actual scripts for that conversation, not just the nerve to want to have it.

Use AI to tailor your story

I'm not anti-AI. I'm anti losing yourself to it.... Claude built this course's website. Every headline, every email, every word of it, I wrote myself, Claude just executes what I already know how to say. That's the whole model. I've used ElevenLabs to build phone answering systems for clients. I'm testing HubSpot's AI tools before my own clients ever see them. I'm testing Salesforce's Agentforce the same way. Not because AI is trendy. Because knowing a tool before you hand it your story is the entire difference between tailoring your story and disappearing into someone else's. You'll leave with that same approach. AI executes. You write.
